- Berndt Collection Collection Description Jerry Berndt Collection is a collection of 774 photographs shot by Jerry Berndt. These photographs were created under the auspices of Center of Religion and Civic Center(CRCC), USC. Jerry Berndt is an American photojournalist based in Paris. His photographs are included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), the International Center of Photography(New York York), and the Bibliotheque National (Paris). This collection consists of two subcollections: Gateway Cities Photography Project and Soul of Los Angeles Collection. . The Gateways Cities Photography Project. Documents the immigrant religious life in the six cities that are major ports of entries for immigrants namely, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., New York and Los Angeles during 2002 and 2003. Also includes 89 undated photographs of daily life in San Salvador, El Salvador Soul of Los Angeles Collection. These photographs on immigrant religious life in Los Angeles mostly during 1996 and 1999 were part of the "Soul of Los Angeles" traveling exhibition of photographs by Jerry Berndt. This exhibition was sponsored by CRCC (USC). Orphans of the Rwanda Genocide: Portraits of Survival and Hope. These photographs document the 100-day genocide of Rwandans in 1994.
